To be perfectly frank I don’t really think my summer reading of A Thousand Splendid Suns and Three Cups Of Tea are good choices for next years summer reading. I don’t think they are bad books, all I am saying is that they are not of equal quality. I read A Thousand Splendid Suns in two sittings, I could not stop thinking about the book for several days. It was filled with symbolism and had an intense thought-provoking plot. Three Cups Of Tea on the other hand was not such a good read. Its strange point of view and uneventful plot made it very boring to read. Also because it is non-fiction it does not have very many significant literary devices in which to write about. I think this would be a better pairing if the English teachers kept A Thousand Splendid Suns but replaced Three Cups Of Tea with a fictional book that is engaging and with more conflict.
